DROP Boxing & Athletic Wellness

Downtown Toronto’s DROP Boxing & Athletic Wellness, opened in March 2019, features an LED installation designed, installed and programmed in collaboration with GTR Industries. 10 “rays” form a star topology on the ceiling of the gym. The center of the star is right above the instructor’s podium. Each ray has randomly aligned, fixed length segments of addressable LEDs, consisting of over 1,700 pixels in total. At design time I loaded the model of the gym into vvvv and added the aluminum rails and the pixels separately. This enabled a virtual 3D tour of the space with live animation running on the LEDs.
